Silver Screen Studios — formerly Silver Screen Entertainment — was founded in 2012 by Sharad Kumar Shrivastav and Seema Shrivastav to produce meaningful regional cinema from Maharashtra. The studio's first feature, Parees (2013), began its Marathi filmmaking journey, followed by Just Gammat and other independent work grounded in honest, character-driven storytelling.
Today, the studio is led by second-generation filmmaker Rajat Kumar, who is spearheading its creative vision — original, high-concept cinema that bridges independent storytelling with commercial accessibility. Rooted in Indian culture and philosophy, Silver Screen Studios now carries its ambitions to the international stage.
“Why do people become who they become?”
Rajat Kumar is an Indian actor and filmmaker driven by that single question. His work explores the contradictions of modern relationships, identity and human behaviour through emotionally engaging, high-concept cinema that is both deeply Indian and universally relatable.
Growing up in a family of independent film producers, Rajat was introduced to filmmaking long before he entered film school. While mainstream Hindi cinema shaped his love for movies, it was world cinema that expanded his understanding of what the medium could achieve — a dual influence that continues to define his work: rooted in Indian culture and philosophy, yet fluent in a contemporary cinematic language that resonates across borders.
After training at the Shiamak Davar Institute of Performing Arts, Rajat graduated from the Digital Film Academy, New York City, in 2016, developing a multidisciplinary approach spanning writing, directing, cinematography, editing and performance. He has since worked across feature films, branded content, commercials and music videos — directing Hearts Awash in Sapphire Light for Pocket Films, creating CarbonTree's official video campaign, and serving as Associate Director on music videos for Just Music and an upcoming release on Universal Music's VYRL channel. In 2025, he was invited as Guest Faculty at Christ University, Bengaluru, teaching advertising and visual storytelling to third-year psychology students.
Now leading the second generation of Silver Screen Studios, Rajat is developing a slate of original feature films that challenge conventional genre boundaries and bridge Indian storytelling with global cinematic sensibilities. His latest feature, Good Night, Sweet Dreams, Don't Sleep — currently in post-production and seeking international co-production partners — marks both his feature acting debut and a defining step in his evolution as an actor and filmmaker.

A high-concept psychological relationship thriller blending anxiety, dark humour, psychological horror and marital drama. The film follows Samay and Ayami, a couple on the verge of separation, at an isolated Indic couples' retreat where they begin dreaming idealized versions of one another.
